ESL courses
ESL = English as a Second Language
At the Greenfields English Language College we have six levels of ESL courses designed to take a student from beginner to a competent advanced student of the English Language in as little as ten months (based on six hours study a week).
Each level has between 14 to 17 lessons. Every lesson lasts approximately 3 hours with a break in between.
During each lesson students cover new vocabulary, grammar, small common words, sentence patterns, pronunciation and conversation. In doing the sentence patterns one does not need to learn millions of sentences but to learn 70 to 80 basic sentence patterns which make up everyday English. And each one is practised until it can be done easily. Students practise in pairs as learning a language requires talking, talking and more talking! Practicing in pairs means students have the chance to speak the language 80% of the lesson time. While the students are in pairs, the teacher can easily move around, watch, listen and help each one of them.
The real purpose of language is, was and always will be – COMMUNICATION!

The ESL programme is an Applied Scholastics™ programme.
How do I sign up?
To sign up simply come along to one of our free introductory lessons every Tuesday evening at 19:00 or Thursday afternoon at 14:00 and find out how we teach English! After the free lesson we will place you in the class you need at your level of English. Alternatively call us or just come in for more information.
What are the levels?
Beginner level 1
Beginner level 1 includes: the alphabet, the body, the classroom, family, nouns, basic adjectives, numbers, colours, simple sentences and much more!
Beginner level 2
Beginner level 2 includes: weather, food, verbs, sport, animals, pronunciation practice and more.
Beginner level 3
Beginner level 3 includes: describing words, at the restaurant, time, sports, house work, occupations, health, simple questions and answers, irregular verbs.
Beginner level 4
Beginner level 4 includes: emotions, actions, travel, shopping, post office, clothes, measurements, complex sentences and questions.
Intermediate level 1
Intermediate level 1 includes: driving, phone calls, complex adjectives, making contact, education, applying for a job and conversations.
Intermediate level 2
Intermediate level 2 includes: types of people, the world, situations, love, art, marriage, complex conversations, advanced vocabulary and characteristics.
The classes are small, the atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly and the students have a lot of fun. The classes are upbeat and everyone gets involved.
Can I have a trial lesson?
Yes! Our free introductory lessons are every Tuesday evening at 19:00 or Thursday afternoon at 14:00. Come and experience a lesson and find out for yourself how we teach.

| CONVERSATION CLUB
Come and join an informal lesson. The Conversation Club is the place to be on Thursday evening. Here you will make many new friends who also want to perfect their English. You will be given different topics to talk about and there is always a teacher to help with any new words. It is a fun and relaxing way to practice and learn. We meet every Thursday evening at 18:30 to 20:30 at the college. Price: £13.00
